Admission Registration

To facilitate the Hospital to register the patient accurately, for the purposes of (i) retrieval of the correct patient’s clinical data for ongoing patient care (ii) accurate calculation for patient’s admission / attendance fees, please present the following documents upon admission registration:
 
  • Identity document*
    Patient Type Document to Present
    Adult
    • Original identity document of patient  (e.g. Hong Kong Identity Card) ; or
    • Original travelling document of patient 
    Children under 11 years old
    • Original Hong Kong Identity Card of patient; or
    • Birth Certificate of patient; or
    • Original travelling document of patient
    Newborn babies who were born in Hong Kong and not yet obtained the Hong Kong Birth Certificate
    (born within 42 days)
    • Documents issued from Hospital in which the patient was born with name of patient’s father / mother indicated (e.g. discharge summary, immunization card); and 
    • Original identity document / travelling document of patient’s father / mother
    * Remarks: Admission registration would not be performed unless patient presents valid identity documents upon registration.
     
  • Address proof within last six months, such as electricity bills, water bills, telephone charges statement
  • Hospital appointment slip

Personal Items to be prepared by Patient

  • Please bring your own tumbler, slippers, flannel, wet tissue, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, toilet paper, shower gel and other hygiene goods.
  • Incontinent patients should also bring adult diapers.
  • If patients are on medication, please bring along your medicines and seek for our medical staff’s advice.

Meal Services

  • Our Hospital generally provides inpatient meal service for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks (subject to patient’s condition). 
  • We also provide special meals for patients with special needs, such as low sodium, diabetic, vegetarian and Halal meals.
  • Our meal service provision schedule are as follows:
    • Breakfast:7:15 am to 8:45 am
    • Lunch:11:45 am to 1:15 pm
    • Dinner:5:00 pm to 6:30 pm
  • Outside the above service hours, all wards would provide milk, fruit juice or biscuits if available. 
  • Patient can also purchase food and beverages at our Hospital restaurant (located at B2, Block S) and convenience store during their opening hours. 
  • Remarks: If family members prepare meal for patients or the food portion provided by the Hospital is considered too much, please kindly inform ward staff for meal adjustment.

Admission Regulations

  1. Please do not present honoraria or gifts to our staff.
  2. Mobile phones are strictly forbidden in the following areas:
    Coronary Care Unit, Labour Ward, High Dependency Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care and Special Care Baby Unit, Operating Room, Accident & Emergency Department Resuscitation Room and other restricted areas. If patient needs to use mobile phones in the Hospital unrestricted areas, please keep away at least 1 meter from medical equipment in order to prevent interference.
  3. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the Hospital areas. Offenders are liable to prosecution. The fixed penalty for smoking is HK$1,500 or summary conviction to a fine of HK$5,000.
  4. Please do not bring sharp and dangerous items (e.g. matches or lighter) to the Hospital.
  5. Please do not use unspecified electrical socket in the Hospital for charging of mobile phones or other electrical appliances.
  6. Pursuant to the Hospital Authority Bylaws 7(1)(c) and (1)(d), no person shall, in the Hospital, use any language likely to cause offence or annoyance to any person, or behave in an indecent or disorderly manner (e.g. gambling). Trespassers may be prosecuted.
  7. Pursuant to the Hospital Authority Bylaws 7(1)(f) and (1)(g), no person shall, in the Hospital:
    • take any photograph or film or video picture whereby the likeness of a patient in the hospital is thereby depicted without the consent of such patient; or
    • take any photograph or film or video picture whereby any ward in a hospital is thereby depicted without the consent of a member of the staff whose consent shall not be withheld unless annoyance or disturbance to a patient, or prejudice to medical treatment of a patient, is thereby caused or likely to be caused.
  8. Due to clinical needs, patients may be assigned to different wards (e.g. isolation ward) or to different beds within the ward (e.g. temporary added beds) during their hospitalization.
  9. If patient needs to leave the vicinity of the ward, please inform our nursing staff. Otherwise, patient’s departure from the Hospital will be treated as a “missing persons” and will be reported to the Police.
  10. Please do not bring large amount of cash and jewelry etc. during Hospitalization.
  11. Should patient’s immediate family wish to know the latest medical condition of the patient, a meeting with the doctor can be arranged through the attending nurse.
  12. For patient's operational progress, caretakers can enquire the ward duty nurses or via use the Hospital Authority's mobile app "HA Go".
  13. All medical records are the properties of the Hospital. Please do not remove or damage the medical records.
  14. Hospital linen and patient clothing are the properties of the Hospital, please do not take away when you leave the Hospital. 

Examination and Treatment

  • Some wards in the Hospital are mixed gender in nature which provide in-patient monitoring and treatment services as other specialties. Fee will be charged according to HA's scheme.
  • When admitted into a HA Hospital, patient may be subsequently transferred to another HA Hospital for examination and / or treatment.
  • When in HA Hospital, patient would be asked to give consent to such tests, examination and treatment considered appropriate or necessary by the Hospital.

Patient's Personal Belongings / Valuable Items

  • Patient please do not bring along personal belongings / valuable items on admission to and during hospitalization at a hospital (the "Hospital") of the Hospital Authority ("HA").
  • Patient should take care of all his / her personal belongings / valuable items during hospitalization. All such items (whether kept by the patient or temporarily kept by the Hospital) are at the sole risk of the patient, and the patient agrees that HA / the Hospital is not liable for any loss or damage to such items, howsoever arising. All such items must also be removed or collected by the patient or the patient's next of kin / intended or actual personal representative of the estate forthwith when the patient no longer stays in the Hospital (for the reason of discharge or other circumstances) (“the Discharge”).
  • If patient's cash is temporarily kept by the Hospital, the Hospital may deposit the cash to HA's bank account for security reason. The same amount of cash (with no interest) will be returned to the patient or the patient's next of kin / intended or actual personal representative of the estate upon the Discharge. The patient agrees that any interest generated into the bank account from the cash belongs to HA absolutely.
  • The patient agrees that all his / her personal belongings / valuable items in the Hospital (including items temporarily kept by the Hospital) not removed or collected for more than three months after the Discharge shall be considered abandoned by the patient and the Hospital may dispose of such items at any time thereafter and in any manner considered appropriate, and the proceeds of disposal (if any) may be retained by the Hospital for its own use. Patient further agrees that if such items are perishable, noxious, offensive, or otherwise repulsive, they may be disposed of by the Hospital at any time and in any manner considered appropriate without notice to the patient or the patient’s next of kin / intended or actual personal representative of the estate and the Hospital is not liable for any loss or damage caused.

  • Health Resource Centre
    • Located at 2/F, Block Q. For enquiry, please call 3949 4746.
    • The centre has a health information library with various health information pamphlets to anyone in need.
    • Patient support groups for patient with special needs are also available.
  • Cancer Patient Resource Centre
    • Located at 2/F, Block Q. For enquiry please call 3949 3564.
    • The centre provides treatment information and rehabilitation training for cancer patients and their caregivers. Giving care and support in physical and mental health to cancer patients.
  • Breastfeeding Room
    • Located at Room 12, Pediatric Clinic, G/F, Block S.
    • Opening hours: Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm; Saturday: 8:00am – 1:00pm
    • If you need to use the breastfeeding room outside opening hours, please contact the Security Department at 3949 4002. 
  • Rehab Shop
    • Located at the main entrance of G/F, Block P. For enquiry, please call 3949 4541.
    • We sell various medical / healthcare supplies for anyone in need.
  • Chaplaincy Service
    • Provide pastoral care service to patients and relatives, especially for those experiencing emotional distress arisen from illness. 
    • Office located at G/F, Block P. Welcome to come in person or call us at 3949 4691.
    • Chapel open for praying and meditation.
  • Visitor Carpark (Hourly Rate)
    • United Christian Hospital is undergoing a large scale Expansion Project. Consequently, ONLY limited visitor carpark spaces are available from 6:00 pm to 12:00 midnight on weekdays, and from 5:45 pm to 12:00 midnight on weekends/Public Holidays in the Block S Carpark. Please go to the nearby public carpark if the visitor carpark is fully occupied. Persons with disability please contact our on-site security guards for support.   • Hospital Restaurant
    • Located at B2, Block S. Opening hours from 6:30 am to 8:30 pm daily (last order at 8:00pm).
  • Convenience Store & Vending Machines
    • Convenience Store is located at G/F, Block S (near the main entrance) and provides mobile phone charging rental service. Vending Machines are installed in multiple locations in the Hospital. Offer 24 hours service daily. Hot/cold drinks and personal hygiene goods can be purchased.
  • Automatic Teller Machine (ATM)
    • Hang Seng Bank ATM is located at G/F, Block S (outside the Eye Clinic).
    • Bank of China (HK) ATM is located at G/F, the main entrance of Block S.
  • Wheelchair Lending
    • For patients’ use within the hospital area on the same day.
    • Located at lobbies of G/F, Block S and Block P.
  • Temporary Storage Service of Electric Wheelchair
    • For hospitalized patients whose relatives could not immediately retrieve the electric wheelchair, and the service must be referred and arranged by wards which is subject to the availability of storage space at the time.
    • Patient (or their relatives) should bring their own charger for electric wheelchair to avoid insufficient power when retrieving the electric wheelchair.
    • Patients (or their relatives) must retrieve their electric wheelchairs before being discharged or transferred to another hospital.
  • Rental of Portable Chargers for Mobile Phones
    • Located at the lobby of G/F, Block P and Accident & Emergency Department.

Barrier-Free Supporting Services

  1. Facilitate and provide timely support for visual-impaired person and guide dog.
  2. Provide hearing aids for the hearing-impaired person.
  3. Provide virtual reality guided tour service in the hospital.

Discharge Procedures

  • Please contact Hospital ward staff or nurse for discharge procedures.
  • Patients having financial difficulty may contact ward staff or medical social worker for assistance.
  • If necessary, our ward staff will make a specialist out-patient / rehabilitation follow-up appointment for the patient upon discharge.

Medication Supply

  • Pharmacy department is located at G/F, Block S.
  • Service hours for discharge prescriptions: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
