"Innovative KEC Smart Hospital Team" was the first team among Hospital Authority (HA) to receive the HA Outstanding Teams Award for its renowned smart culture.
The self-invented Peritoneal Dialysis Assistance Device, the first patent issued to medical departments in HA hospitals, was put into action to assist patients with renal failure.

The "Kowloon East Cluster Smart Hospital Committee" was established to formulate strategies, explore opportunities and implement advanced technology in clinical and non-clinical settings.

A model of the hospital's new twin-tower ambulatory block was built using 20,000 LEGO bricks as part of the hospital's 45th anniversary celebration.

Funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Jockey Club Adolescent Mental Health Centre was established in United Christian Hospital Block P, which aimed to provide all-round mental health services for children and adolescents, as well as to facilitate medical-social collaboration through community engagement in the Kowloon East region.

The Integrated ENT Centre, Kowloon East Cluster Breast Centre, Kowloon East Cluster United Christian Hospital Hospice Centre, Kowloon East Pain Management Centre, Kowloon East Substance Abuse Clinic, Laser Treatment Room, Occupational Therapy Clinic, Physiotherapy Clinic, United Ambulatory Care Centre were put into service.

Hong Kong was hit by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) coronavirus in March. All United Christian Hospital frontline and supporting staff stood together with solidarity and commitment to fight the epidemic to serve those who were in need. Unfortunately more than 20 staff members were infected and 2 gave their lives to save others.

The Nethersole School of Nursing was no longer managed by United Christian Hospital and was formally renamed as The Nethersole School of Nursing of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2002.
